I just want to say how completely lovely and perfect this is. Depictions of artists in stories are often too romanticized, pretentious, unreal, cliche, and/or worse, clueless--it's always "graceful" this, and "vaguely ethereal and cheesy" that, with a hint of just enough "lovable" messiness/social awkwardness/etc. to make them "eccentric". But this! Oh, this is WONDERFUL. Sherlock's frustration, his unceasing need to create, his own experiences with other people's art, all of your beautifully vivid descriptions of color and shape and sound, ALL OF IT is perfect perfect perfect. That boomerang feeling of being full of colors and on top of the world on moment and then the blank horribleness of a creative block the next--that's every artist ever, completely spot on. As someone who draws (though probably not as ardently as Sherlock) and loves art, I can't begin to express how completely, utterly wonderful everything about this is. The descriptions are so bold and vivid! It's lovely. e;lsdfkl AND OF COURSE, THERE IS ALSO THE CHARACTERIZATION. Which is stunning. ♥
