Some JERK stole my phone. Who steals stuff when you go to the library wtf. SERIOUSLY WTF. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

I rarely wish bad things on people, but I hope they walk into a wall. And maybe should trip on something and faceplant to the ground. THIS IS NOT ON, THIEF.

My phone. All of my contacts, all of my photos, gone. asdfgjkl; T^T

Okay, it's not that bad. I can get (most) of my phone numbers back. The photos I had on it weren't important, life-changing moments, but I used my phone to take "in progress" shots of my paintings and sketches, which I've now lost. Except there's sentimental value to the phone and the charm I had attached to it. I got them years ago in Thailand and they'd become a part of me, you know? It was "technically" a crappy phone, but I loved it.

There's also that slight feeling of violation. (As in the how dare you touch my shit? kind of feeling.) Despite me generally seeing the worst in humanity, I try to think of the best in it. So having this happen to me is like a real slap in the face. I don't know. Maybe this is an overreaction.

(I still want to punch the person responsible in the face.)

I've cancelled that sim card, retrieved the number and purchased a cheap new phone to use in the meanwhile. There were complications, ended up taking two hours to fucking do. Christ, this sucks.

Moral of the story: stealing is assholish, don't do it if you can avoid it. Also, no matter how much you want to get a book, don't go to the most bogan library in the area. JFC.

I think I'll try take away a life lesson and some experience from this. IDK. I'm still a little annoyed. What gets to me is: What can they even do with the phone? It's from Thailand; finding a charger for it will be difficult (hopefully). :/

How horrible *glares at unknown thief*
It's even worse than a phone crashing and taking everything with it because this needn't be. I'm really sorry this has happened. >_

I know! If it were just fate or technology malfunctioning, I wouldn't be as bothered. But theft! Gah. Oh well, the new phone I have will do for now, so not all bad news. :)

I'm sorry to say that the only time I had something stolen from me was when I worked at a community college library. A coworker took all the money from my purse, which was in a closed drawer. I made a sign asking for the money's return, called security and police. She denied that she took it and did not give it back. Also, my boss said it was my fault because $80 was too much to carry in my purse. (For a trip the next day.) WTF? It's totally normal to feel angry and violated. I'm still angry, and it's been almost ten years. BTW, she took it because we had a conversation about how we survived on very low pay, part time hours, (we had family help) and she decided I was better off than her. So never talk to anybody about money or savings either, even a friend. :(

After discussing it with a few people, it seems like libraries are a hub for theft. WTF I can no longer enjoy their books w/o paranoia now. :/

And I'm sorry that your friend stole from you. Also, your boss shouldn't have blamed you for having "too much" money - that's ridiculous to say. It's like saying a woman wearing a short skirt is asking to get raped; perhaps not to those extremes, but the idea still stands.

What's weird is that my wallet (which I have, thank God) wasn't taken. It had $50+ in it, but they went for my phone. Their logic - it's as bad as their morals. -__-;;

Ugh, it did remind me of the "all women are asking for it" defense.

Huh, you have to wonder if the thief had an urgent need for a phone, especially since you said it was an older one. It really sucks. You could probably put up a sign for "lost phone" but I bet it ended up in the garbage once they realized they couldn't charge it. :(

It might have been an old phone to me, but it's a model unreleased to Australia and was in fairly good nick - understandably mistaken for something better, I suppose. :|

Thanks. At least they didn't take my wallet or anything irreplacable. :)
